Does this event have instruction? I've autocrossed alot, but I'd like to have somebody with me on my first high-speed run.

All right, I'll join the smacktalk.
Robert - Why do you want out of XC2.  Worried about being beat by a Neon?

Kevin - Don't worry.  The Nissan guys already know about being beat by FWD!

Wow!  I go away for a few days & you guys light up the board.

Mike (M3) Allen, I am glad you will be able to make it down. I hope we are not the only reason for you 1600 mile journey. We are honored you will be joining us on the track.

Mike (325) Allen, Yes the airport will be open but there are no commercial flights into Cameron County Airport. If you are a pilot or know one you can fly in & leave your plane on site with the FBO. The closest commercial airport is in Harlingen which is about 30 min away.

Robert Yuras, You can run XC-3 if you like. Remember you can always jump up in class just not down.

David ('02 Civic Si), Don’t worry if its your first time we will have an instructor with you until you & the instructor feel you are ready to go solo.  If you have Auto-X experience & show good judgment you should be able to go solo before lunch on the first day.

Do you know the FBO there? I can rent a 172 out at Wright Flyers and make the trip down. Is the track area in walking distance to the tie down area?

Mike, The FBO is Southwind avation 956-233-4424. The tie down area is about 1/4 from the paddock area.

Nah, the car has been completly rebuilt from the ground up, 12 point cage, VERY enlightened, and built to "Pro Sedan" and USTCC spec. So, really, XC-2 isnt quite fair, hell, I should be in a racecar class, but what fun is that? Jeff is a good driver, anyone in XC-2 should come prepared for competition from him. I chorded my tires the second day, so I couldnt run the way a wanted, but ricer excuse. If Im not mistaken he came out on top that day.
Anyone intrested in this event should make it. Its pure fun, and last time it was nice getting to know more SASCA guys on a personal basis. You WILL have an instructor with you untill he thinks you confident in your driving. IF you have issues carrying tires, jacks, etc. Im always willing to through some of the stuff in my truck, or in the racecar, and lock it up if necessary. Make and effort to make this event. PCA wants to see us, and I want to get to know more of you. Besides, Pirate's Den will be awaiting us, we we're their only thirsty customers last time.

Rene,

Actually, I am trying to swing a seminar in San Antonio the week prior to the event, can you say boon doggle.  It is just pure luck that there happens to be a RGV DE that entire weekend.  As far as work is concerned, I have some "personal business" to take care of.[Cheesy]

  Let's get a headcount:

Me
Mike (325iS) Allen
Robert Y
John B
Eddie Bowman (hopefully)
Jeff P
STS-129
Ken M
imnotted (hopefully)

I count nine folks from SA, that is too cool.  Now I am really getting anxious.

For the headcount...

If I can swing another set of Azenis for the event (pretty likely[:-bouncy]), I'll be attending.  I have a buddy or two that might be attending, too.  Do they need to be official SASCA members to get the discount?

I will be attending this event, but only to help out.  At this point, my car is on jack stands and I'm not quite sure what the exact problem is.  The differential is out on the floor right now.  I'm not planning to run in MY car at least.  Just have to see what transpires.

But I will be there.  So, as Robert mentioned, if anybody needs something carried down, let me know.

Thanks, John.  I'll get in touch with you later this week.  Got any ideas what the ratios are?
I only suspect the diffy because there quite a bit of play in the driveshaft with the car lifted and parking brake on (rear wheels not moving).  All told, there about 3/8"-1/2" of rotational play in the shaft.  I figured that was bit much.  Once I got it out, though, I couldn't replicate that amount of play.  Go figure...

Sounds about right for an old Z.  Play in the u-joints and half shafts adds up too.  I've got an 280Z R200 3.9, you need to find a mustache bar for that one if you want to use it.  It will wake your car up some, and a 240Z R180  stock 3.364.  The other one I don't know.
