At the July 20th autocross a large group of people ran between 14-17 runs when everyone else got 7-8.  [:-boggled] Will this be happening again? It really seemed to make the heats drag, especially since 187/DSP-87/DSP Mazda MIATA (why on Earth a Mazda would need to be that loud is beyond me) was ear splittingly loud. I don't think I would have even noticed how many runs those people were taking if that particular car hadn't been giving me a headache and ringing ears. Also, it seems to skew the results of the autocross giving the people that take that many runs a huge advantage. I hope this post doesn't make anyone mad because that is not the intention, its just that these issues have been bothering me and I would like some feedback.
Thanks for any replys.

It has been a club policy to allow other club members who drive a great distance to register twice.  The people you are talking about drove from Houston to this event.  I hope this helps a little.  If not, email me, and I will forward to the BOD.

Antoher note on this topic, is that the people who register twice for an event do not get any points counted towards year end points for that event.  This is available to anyone who doesn't mind not getting points provided that you do in fact work twice. The folks from Houston don't mind.  Another point is that they also have to work twice as much in order to run twice as much, so on three heat days, they really don't get a break.

Well, if you take away double entry, then the Houston people will most likely come at all. And since double entry also means they PAY twice, that id a decent chunk of change that would be thrown away.

I really like that we get so many runs here at SASCA, but I think getting enough people in attendance to pay for the events outright is probably more important than getting 10 runs instead of 8. Heck, I'm so used to 3 or 4 that we could only get 6 runs and I'd still be giddy about it!

Thanks for the helpful info! Since this is a policy that affects the times of the drivers dramatically should it be reflected in the PAX scores? When anyone goes to check the results of the July 20th austocross, it lists JAMES ROGERSON  as the winner, when in fact he was not competing and JOSH PRICE was the actual winner. JAMES ROGERSON, O J YOUNG, JACK MOTT, CATHERINE JENSEN, JEFF DAVID HOYL, RAYMUND GUERRERO, and AMITA ACHARI need to have some kind of designation in the results showing that they were practicing. A very important way for drivers to know whether they are improving from month to month is by comparing their PAX score to the field of drivers.

Thanks again for explaining this to me,

Jana

That's true Jana,

I did not think about that.  There should be a way that we can seperate them out into an Xclass or something that does not get them a PAX score.

I will try to put it this site when the results section/stats are done.  People with double runs will only be ranked based on the first 7/8 runs...the other runs will be lists but not scored.

How does this sound?

Somethng else that several non-members and newbies have asked about is the "fun runs". Any way to schedule some into the events?

The main problem is help.  If more people stayed afetr to help the cleanup...then more could be done.  We can do more with more.  And the heat!  On cooler days, more people might stay late to help cleanup.

ideally we should be able to flag member's times that count toward YEP...BUT i'm not sure there is a way to do it in the timing software.. between ed & y'alls T&S group, and donovan & i, if theres a way we'll find it.. but FYI, most clubs have someone manually doing YEP calculations (i.e. someone goes through the results and keeps track of YEP finishers)

So I should get between 15 and 24 runs since I'm driving from Little Rock, right? Smiley  I'll be dead tired by the end of the day if I could somehow manage to stay focused that long.

The problem with that is the first 7/8 runs may not include re-runs.  Someone may have more than 7/8 runs because of re-runs so some valid times will be missed.  Need to first remove the times which don't or shouldn't count before calculating the results.
