February 1, 2012

Introductions:  Great turnout tonight, a few new faces in the crowd!  Thanks for coming out!  (Dalton made a funny)

January event:  We had a total of 36 novices come out for the event,  for a total of 120 drivers.  One of the largest novice group in a while.  Scanlon created a fun course, with a crossover.  It added a bit of time to the event, but everyone said they enjoyed it.  There was some trash left behind.  Please make sure that you take your trash with you when you leave the event.

Novice Trophies presented.

A lot of Memberships were done at the event, even some renewals.

Upcoming:
-July & September events are now confirmed as co-events, hosted by SPOKES.
-There is a SPOKES event this weekend, go out and support our fellow auto-crossers!
-John Canales has volunteered as course designer for our February event, which is two weekends after next.
-Novice School is coming up very quickly, get registered if you want to attend.  It's limited to 30 people, helps ensure good seat time as well as one on one with an instructor.  Lunch provided for that day.  It's on a Saturday, our normal auto-cross will be the next day.
-Texas National Tour is 3/17 & 3/18...It would be great if we had some additional people attend.
-NISMO-Fiesta is 4/14 & 4/15, we'll be hosting the auto-cross on the Sunday.  Cruise on Saturday...everything is online at www.nismofiesta.com

Equipment Needs:
-new wristbands
-air hose repair/replace
-first aid kits

Open Discussion-
-air card was used this past weekend, had a little glitch at the beginning, but worked great thereafter
-timing board is difficult to see when it is in direct sunlight.  Either a visor or a better plastic wrap for it.  Natalia has offered to shrink wrap it to see if it will be a little better for visibility.
-tech to be moved to curb where the divisional tech was done.  Dalton will explore 'crowd control' for having it over there, instead of a herd of goats rushing at him.

Dalton made a funny!

While it is important that individuals be responsible for cleaning up their own trash, I don't think it's too much to ask of the tear-down crew to make a swing through the lot and pick up any stray trash. I'm typically on that crew so I'll make sure this gets done at the next event.

I'm giving most people credit that their trash was blown away before they could dispose of it.

I've only seen 2 actual litter bugs at an event, and both were spoken to.

An additional trash can in the parking area would probably nearly resolve the issue.

Per equipment:
The hose has been repaired.
First aid kits range from cheap and useless to elaborate defib units.  So are we talking aspirins, a compress and band aids or what?
Per wrist bands, I need to know where we ordered the last ones.  And do we care if they have our logo on them?

I think the slightly wider wristbands that we used to have (much like the Spokes ones that they use now) tended to work much better.  They don't have to have our logo/info on them, but it's just a side bonus since people take them home with them in most cases and can look us up later (mostly for spectators).

Also, one thing that also needed to be added to the equipment list was some toilet paper for the porta-potty.

Okay I've found 3/4" bracelets for quite cheap.
However the price triples on them when we have a decal or text applied.

I may just order them tonight, test their quality and decide if we want a custom order later one.
