So after a few reassurances from mechanics on the scene and a small amount of ridicule for my concern, I now need a oil catch can.

Are there any local places I can pick one up?

Was the car a little on the loud side?  Its deafening on the inside, but I have no exterior reference.
Do we have a db meter?

Its not really that loud there are much lounder cars out yesterday. As for the oil catch can try Alamo Performance 4315 Centergate Street, San Antonio, TX
(210) 637-0413.

By the way this is Matthew Valdez, Abel's son I thought I'd just join since I'm on so many other forums anyways.

Sup, Matt?

ya, i went down there this afternoon as a matter of fact.  They didnt have shit.

I guess theyre more muscle car oriented.

I ended up making one from some AC parts.  The car is a little rough now, so I think I made a vacuum leak somewhere along the line.....

I couldnt find a can locally for out STi so I looked on ebay and bought a nice billet piece with a bolt-on top, apprx $55 with shipping from HK. Just search aluminum catch can and you will find many different styles. I stuffed some fuel bladder foam inside the can to help improve oil/air separation.

Maybe something like this: catchcan or this oilcatchcan
Here is one with a breather: canw/breather

Summit Racing may also have what you're looking for.

Also, you will want to cap off the inlet on the intake plenum where that breather hose was originally connected.

I was surprised to see they don't.  I did fab one up, so now I have enough time to shop for one.

On a side note, today I bought a larger Neuspeed throttle body to go with my cam and ported intake manifold.  (none of which is installed yet)

I guess from now on I'll be 'smokin fast'.

You looked good Sunday despite the plume...keep tracking the little gremlins down (yes, time period pun intended) and you'll have a fun track car!

Not sure if you are still looking.... Not Local, but StreetUnit gets a lot of good reviews From the MazdaSpeed Folks, and the 2 cans they carry are nice.
