So, I am currently racing in HStock, with a 97 Subaru Impreza 2.2L

I am considering swapping in a 2.5L, while otherwise keeping everything else same as "HStock".
This would effectively take my car to "Impreza 2.5RS" status which runs GStock.

SO my question is, would I be able to "legally" run in GStock after this swap?
OR would I have to run in a modified class?

dang SM huh, well that totally blows. means I would have to mod the hell out her to be at all competitive, and thats not my intention at all, I just want to swap and stay stock otherwise.

can anyone else confirm this?

Aren't you allowed to swap between different trim levels within a single model and stay in stock as long as you modify all related components? If the chassis is identical, wouldn't exchanging the engine, brakes from the then-current legacy, and (I guess) the 2.5RS body parts be just a change in trim levels?

The only thing I see wrong with that is the 1 year difference between your Impreza and the 2.5RS, which came out in 1998...

Yup, that's allowed.

In SM.

Stock class is pretty self explanatory.

If you want to run the other motor in stock, you'll need to drive a car that it came with.

If things worked the way you're angling, I would drop a 8 Cylinder Twin Turbo M3 engine into the chassis of a 1993 325 BMW and be running DStock...

His Impreza is the car that the larger engine came in. His car and the 2.5RS trim level both belong to the GC chassis code. If he also swapped to 16" diameter wheels, larger legacy brakes, the 2.5RS closer-ratio transmission w/ front differential, 2.5RS rear differential, and 2.5RS body panels (I don't know if that would make any difference in performance), they'd be basically identical.

The S2000 and the S2000 CR are both B Stock.
The CR has upgraded suspension from the factory.
If you were to match that suspension on a S2000, it would make it Street Prepared.

Stock means your car is stock...........
