SASCA 082411

Introductions:  Some new faces in the crowd.  Nice to see new people in attendance.

Trophies:  Good novice battle!  23 novices, so a very good turnout.  Jordan was present at meeting and placed 4th.  Tom “Pants” Dobberfuhl placed 2nd, present for trophy as well.

Great event, had 74 entries, despite most people being absent preparing for nationals.  Good flowing course, short, but gave us more runs.

Maintenance:  Timing light board was repaired, oil change on generator.

T-shirts:  Aaron has come up with a design, we’ll throw it up on the forum for viewing and opinions.  Get some feedback and go from there.

Next event, September 18th.  Need a course designer???  Tom Conklin has volunteered.  Sweeping lot again was brought up again.  A lot of dust from gravel place across the street.  That usually goes away after the first cars run, racing line is clean.  Really need patches done, but they continue to disintegrate, especially if we put a turn through it.  We need to have course designs that avoid the patches.  Trailer towing…John Patterson will take it back.  Craig or Ricky will handle morning, worst case, John will do.

Online registration:  Lee - new job assignments can now be chosen when you register on Axware.  Jobs are unique, but the software cannot stop multiple people from signing up for the same job.  Please be aware that if someone already has it, do not select it.  Check the list prior to selecting a job position.  This is when you are registering for the event.

http://sololive.scca.com/ for live results at nationals next week.  Week long event, a lot of fun for people that are interested next year.

Novice School - it’s almost fall already, do we have the interest to host another one?  Interest seems to be there…20+ runs, several national champions were teaching at the last one.  November is an option at Retama?  May be an event already scheduled the day prior.  Ricky will contact Retama and see what options are available for hosting another driving school.

Cruise/Annual Tech in early January?  Do a group presence at “Cars n Coffee”, or have a night at the drag strip?  Post your ideas on the Forum and let’s get some things going!

Novice questions:  What can we do differently?  More information.  Facebook presence.  Tom “Pants” asked for business cards to hand out.  He states that he would like to be able to give them out.  Too much underground illegal street racing, let’s get it off the street!  James - get more spectators at events.  Get them interested and understand that almost all cars can run in autocross.  Again, more presence at “Cars n Coffee” and Biff’s.

You can assume that the equipment guy is going to tow unless notified otherwise.

Who is the course designer?  Which Tom?

Thumbs up and thanks to John Patterson for towing in the afternoons and Eric and Lee for doing really good stuff for the club!
