Wheel Rim Work

Hello All!
My Brother-in-law is wanting to have his rear rims widened an inch. Is there anyone out there in the US that can do this without jeopardizing the structural integrity of the rim? He has over 500lbs of torque & HP in his car, autocrosses occasionally & does HPDE often, and we're concerned about it holding up under the stress. I don't know if this is even possible. Or should he just see if the rim is offered wider (which I don't think it is)?
I appreciate your help!

Eric, Jim at Trudesign Wheel, Inc, in Denver can repair and modify most any kind of wheel. He repaired my magnesium wheels and did a very good job for a reasonable price. His tele is 800-621-6436.
