I know it will be hard to top Div #2 but you won't know unless you show!!

SW Div #3 will be July 16-17 at the Annex in Bryan, TX. Houston Region SCCA w/Texas A&M Sports Car Club will be hosting this event with Roger "the real" Johnson as course designer, Zach Barnes(former Spokes guy) hospitality and a whole lot of good times to be had by all!!!!!

Remember, the Welcome Party is graciously sponsored by Vorshlag Motorsports, so get there early!

For all of you ROOKIES on the fence, Dan Pedroza, owner Eagle Transmission of Pflugerville, is challenging anyone that has never entered a div to come and check it out with a discount of $15 off of their entry and will award the "Eagle Transmission Solo Flyer" trophy to the top pax finishing divisional rookie!

C'mon, Stab the Gas and Haul Some Ass!!

You know where to enter:

Sounds to me like someone should have been there...   Smiley

The courses were very transitional and risky in nature, so there were loads of cone calls and DNF's.  Day 1's course had to have at least 40% of the runs dirty.  Vivek managed to hit 19 cones on the first day alone...  Day 2 went much better.

So here's the age-old question: What will it take to get more SASCA folks to go to the out of town events?  These events are a lot of fun, especially the after-hours drunken trash talking / pool parties / biergarten hangouts, etc...

If anybody wants to take a week-long car vacation, the SCCA Nationals is coming up in just over a month...  Would sure be great to see some more folks go to that!  I might even have a seat for rent in my S2000 if you don't want to take your own car.

I thought about going but I wasnt interested in spending two or three days in the heat, and I didnt have my trailer prepped well enough for a trip out of town.

Any  more talk about holding the divisionals during cooler months?

John, this WAS the year for divs in the cooler months.  The first one was in mid-May, and there isn't one in August.  That's about as early as we can have them due to the national tour, and entries would be really weak if we did them after nationals.

Two things that I think will help if we do Retama again next year that are very easy to implement:
1. Don't schedule and/or cancel Spokes/SASCA events during the month of the Divisional.  Don't give people the excuse of "why would I want to spend extra money on a div if we get to run for $20 next weekend anyway?"  It's too hot in the Summer (for some) to autocross every weekend anyway, give them less options and they will attend the divisional.
2. Make the Div count double points for local championships.  We did this at TVTC a few years ago and while it made the points accounting at the end of the year pretty difficult I think it did help with attendance.  Double points is hard to pass up for those that are serious about the year end championships.
