I am going to move out of Novice after the May 22 outing. It looks like most people move to the "Tire" class, but I am not exactly sure what that is. I cannot find it in the SCCA rulebook.

http://cms.scca.com/documents/2011%20Tech/2011%20SCCA%20solo%20rules.pdf

Is "Tire" the same as Street Touring?

Thanks
Jeff

Its a made up class. Essentially trying to level all classes with an additional multiplier and restrictions of 140+ tread

The Tire class is a regional class that allows all normal SCCA classes to be combined into a single class using each car's individual PAX multiplier to determine the results.  Your car will be competitive in there if you keep driving it like you have Smiley

I was looking for an answer about the Tire class.  I have been out of autocross for a long while.  Back in 05,
SASCA didn't have a Tire class.  But, Spokes did.  I understood that to be a class where you have stock tires
for your car.  The previous answer said the tires have restrictions of 140+ tread.  So. then, is it the stock classes
that have 140+ treadwear rating or is it the Tire class that has the 140+ rating?  I see a bunch of Hoosiers in the stock classes
which would be race rubber, less than 140 treadwear.  Would someone clarify this point?  I'm sure that I am not the
only one with this question.

You can run street tires <140 treadwear in Stock Classes, but there may also be people in there (legal for the class) with race tires...

We have a "Tire" class, which is restricted to tires with 140 treadwear or higher.
