7:37pm Meeting called to order, 9 March 2011. Ricky Crow, club President, presiding.
Introductions were made as there were some new faces in the crowd.
Old Business
Novice school
– Went well despite some complaints about the amount of drivers and experience level of the students. There is interest in planning another novice school for the fall
(late October/November).
March Retama Event
– The event ran smoothly. The worker changeouts were speedy, timing issues minimal, and despite the amount of drivers/heats we were still out by 3pm. Talks of a nightcross at Retama are abuzz. This would add some great flare and could come as a refreshing change from mid-summer autocrosses in the heat!
The SCCA rules were followed at this event regarding sound logging. There were no cars over 95dB. There is a bit of debate on if the logging was done at an appropriate location as far as recording the car at the top of second gears. The sound logger work assignment will be permanent at every Retama race.
There have been no complaints from the residents of Retama as far as disturbing horses goes. We don’t anticipate any issues.
Car Classing
– We are leaving it up to the competitors to protest if cars are mis-classed. It’s left up to registration to assist in classing the cars since the cars won’t be teched until after registration and tech’s main duties are safety checks. If there is any question as to if a car is supposed to be in a certain class, anyone can approach any of the BOD members or someone in the trailer who can point them in the right direction to get answers.
New Business
Retama Lot Cleaning
– The question came up is we should have the lot cleaned by May or wait until just before the June Divisional to have it cleaned. The estimate is about $180. Ricky made the motion to have the lot swept the first week in June. All BOD members agreed.
July Event at Blossom
– This event has been moved from July 17th to July 10th due to schedule conflicts.
April event at Blossom
– Chris Leclair has been voluntold to be the event master.
Equipment Needs
– Does the club want to have a tow vehicle? Most brought up issues of maintenance, leaving it sitting for a month at a time, etc. Renting a truck was suggested, but there are issues about picking up the truck.
Speakers
– Suggestions have been voiced about replacing the speakers for some that can be heard more easily in the pits. We’ll have to check into the PA system to see what will need revamping.
Upcoming Events
– We need volunteers for the Nismo event autocross that is on April 3rd. We also need volunteers for the South Texas Triumph Association’s event at the Tree of Life Church on April 30th.
Corner worker concerns
– Novices need more education on what to do when on course.
There will be a Corner Worker Briefing from now on before the start of each heat.
Safety, assignments, and duties will be explained before the workers are assigned to the corners. We’re hoping to better educate corner workers to increase safety and efficiency of the work to be done.
Meeting adjourned at 9:13 pm.

The FM transmitter is still there. We had to find a different frequency at the last event due to some opera station that started broadcasting nearby.
Also, the date of the July event has not yet been moved... I need to contact Blossom about it, however, due to the conflict with the A&M Divisional date.
