January 2011 SASCA Meeting Minutes

7:46pm Meeting called to order, 5 JAN 2011, Ricky Crow presiding
This meeting constitutes as the SASCA Annual Board of Directors meeting.
Old Business
December Event with Spokes
The event went well. The event was dedicated to Rick Martinez's father who passed away the night before the event. SASCA donated half the earnings from the December race (plus a few additional donations to total $800) to the Martinez family. The whole Martinez family has helped a lot in our community over the years and we hope it helps with their loss.
New Business
Trailer Towing
The trailer will be moved to a storage facility close to Retama Park at Fay's. There was discussion about the person who tows to be comped for their assistance.
Yeah End Party
Bar D BBQ is the venue. Weather pending, Dalton has volunteered to do annual tech about 15 minutes before the Year End Party in the parking lot. Dalton reminds everyone that the annual tech is about the driver knowing what they are supposed to check their cars for before each race.
2011 Schedule
SASCA:
All event dates have been secured. Yay! All events are posted on AXware.
Reminder:
One event per quarter will be at Blossom Athletic Center.
June Divisional:
A meeting is being planned for a comittee headed up by Todd Farris.
Spokes: Events are now posted in AXware for Spokes. Check the schedule for those events as well as the 2 co-events with SASCA.
New Venue: Retama Park
Decibel level reminder: 95dB@50ft from the edge of the course. Readings will be taken periodically through the day to ensure compliance.
3 events per quarter will be at Retama, 8 total for the year.
Novice School
Ricky Crow announced that a novice school is planned for March 19th at Retama Park. The novice chief, Kevin Childers, is on board. SASCA needs to recruit more instructors though. There will be an entry cap and the event will cost more than a normal autocross because there will be nearly 1 on 1 instruction. This event will be open to pre-paid entries only. Strict cap of 30 drivers will be enforced. If you want to have seat time with one-on-one instruction, this is the event to sign up for.
Tech Inspections
Dalton wants to remind everyone that you need to have your car inspected. If you are found in the grid lining up at start without having been teched, you will be pulled aside. Make time to be teched in the morning before the day starts. All members should have an annual tech sticker. If not, see Dalton or ask any other club member so we can get you an annual tech sticker. If Spokes club members do not have an annual tech sticker, SASCA will give them one if they want.
Equipment
Cones:
Ricky suggested getting about 50 18" cones and 50 small grid cones to replace the aging and deminishing ranks. Craig made a GREAT suggestion to use some of the old cones for "trophies". All voted in favor of spending about $500 on new cones.
Fire extinguishers:
All are in good working order
Club banner:
it has been found! We will work to put the banner up at the race for visibility and club recognition.
All other equipment
: Nothing is needed at this time, all equipment is still in good condition.
Meeting Location
We are currently looking for a new meeting place since EZ's is no longer allowing reservations of the meeting room. Suggestions are in favor of Grady's off Nacoma Drive and 281. Other suggestions include Hungry Horse, Jim's, El Chapperral, and Specht's.
Meeting Date
The BOD has determined that starting here forth the club meetings will be the Wednesday after the events This should be good for meeting attendance, handing out trophies, etc.
Meeting adjorned at 8:51pm.

Thanks! It's easiest to just post it the same day and I think it's important for those who didn't make the meeting but want the info on goings-on.
I look forward to serving the club in 2011!

County line off I-10 near Huebner road is free to use their meeting rooms. One has a big flat screen TV which you can hook a laptop into if needed. We moved from Chesters to theirs for the Z Club meetings, but recently moved back to Chesters as members wanted Chesters back.

We're looking to keep it more centralized since we have folks that attend from the far NE side of town as well as the far NW side of town... Somewhere along the 281 corridor makes the most sense. We're going to try having our next meeting at Grady's BBQ on 281 & Nakoma.
And WTH Russell -- you have a different vehicle again?? Wow! haha...

No one called me on my horrible math where I said "3 events per quarter; 8 total for the year".
LOL
That would be 2 events at Retama per quarter, 8 total for the year.

Haha yeah, I can't deny that. But the truck was just a mistake. The gas 11mpg on it and just a big vehicle was just getting to me. So I went back to a fun car. Might see me out there again, but will probably be a few months.

11mpg?!?!?! I get much better than that in my 5.7L Tundra while pulling a 5200lb trailer at 75mph. Wow...
I think the worst I've ever gotten was 10mpg, but that was all towing + at least 3 hours of idling during that tank while setting up two AutoX events.
