Lets see if i have the facts right;
1) we pay more for the lot to a guy who threw us out with no notice.
2) the lot is most likely in worse shape than before.
3) RCR had a very rough year and is in trouble.
4) We have all ways run with the statement of:( we brake it we fix it).. Is this a plot to get his lot re paved?
5) getting 70 racers on a day in Feb is a pipe dream ( remember the last Feb race there? Johnny and a few others wore their helmets out while chasing cones..
6) more than likely we ( the club) will loose money on this deal..
Look i want to race as much an any body but not at that cost to us or the club.. We May have to raise the entry so that the club will not loose out ..I just do not trust the guy and think the lot has seen better days.. My wife and i will turn out and support the club as we have done for years. We rely on the BOD to make good decisions..

Im not going to go into this completly because Im taking care of a sick wife, but here's the FACTS. The reason these are FACTS are because I know Todd, and I know SASCA, and I was with Todd and Mike when we made the new lot lease.
1) Todd was never pissed off with the club, but little do you realize todd was required to move trailers and prep the track (other than the oil barrels) for our races. This was done on his OWN time, and for very little pay.
2)San Antonio Raceway did not have a bad years at all, considering he now has National sanctioning from the IHRA, and SAR is known as the fastest mustang track in the nation. How do I know this? I was standing next to Dan Millens car when it went 7.xx at just under 200 miles per hour.
3)Todd never reoffered his track to us, yet we approached him. Why? The BOD is trying to give you longer tracks, increased seat time, and an open environment to run in.
3)We were never "booted" or "kicked out" we were simply asked to leave because for the amount of time he was having to spend putting the track back together, after we left it unfinished, it wasnt worth it.
4)Are you really that upset about a small increase in cost? You arent in the right sport then. Retama charges $2000 for a lot, and Northside athletic center is around $3000 for only 3-4 hours of use, imagine those rates!
Ive spent countless hours working with the BOD, and using my own personal time to here No, No, No out of people who arent willing to lease their lots. Im sorry if Ive taken this to personally (mods, feel free to edit). But damn! wheres your input other than comlants?[:-censored]

My thoughts, and nobody take this personally please.
1) I don't know Todd. Unfortunetly the only time I ever saw him was when he was yelling (yes, yelling and cussing up a storm) at Wil about the barrels not being put back right. There are two sides to every story and I'm sure since you know him Crazy you see this situation differently then me. And it was also explained to me and a number of others that we were booted with little notice. I personally wasn't happy with how SASCA was treated towards the end of our time using the raceway.
2) I know nothing about thier financial situation so I won't comment.
3) Everyone here GREATLY appreciates what the BOD is doing. And all of us (whether we agree with this decision or not) will be there to support the club and have fun (that's the point of all this, remember?).
4) I don't think anyone here has complained about raising fees. I think Rene was suggesting that as a way to make this work better financially.
Look guys and gals, I'm looking forward to the race no matter what. It's a bigger lot so we can go faster but it is also a damaged lot (remember all the chunking asphalt?). I like not having to rely on only the Dome for our races but I'm also against the club loosing more money.
C'mon Crazy, there haven't been any complaints of the hard work the BOD has done in finding a new location till now and that's because some people are still a bit raw over that whole ordeal last year. Let's allow everyone to voice thier opinions without anyone taking it personally ok?

I view the Feb 15 SAR event as a very experimental thing. The Alamodome remains SASCA's "primary" site with 11 events scheduled this season. IF it works out at SAR, then we might get the season up to 15-20 events. The oil barrels are gone, so one source of grief has been removed. Hopefully Todd won't be screaming at anybody this go round. I would vote we walk if he behaves that way to any SASCA members again. I would not support this if we are liable for lot damage. The lot is in too bad of shape. I suspect we will get the best results using this lot to get "extra" and "bigger" events in the colder months. We had the most problems with the surface in the summer months, but as I recall it was just fine without the hot summer sun. (If you designed around the worst weak area.)
As Rene mentioned, however, Feb is not historically a huge turnout month. But both SASCA and SPOKES are hungry for seat time. Its a bit of a gamble. Also, we need 70 ENTRIES, not necessarilty 70 drivers. The club allows double entry now. Not sure how many folks will pay an extra $20 for ~8 extra runs. Like I said, its a bit experimental. I don't think club members should feel pressured to turn out to "make this work". We really want to see if it "actually works". And if not, at what price point would it work?
I suspect that we can get enough people on dates when we don't overlap with Spokes, but it might take an event or two to build up attendance. Don't know why attendence climbs with repeat events, but it seems to. Perhaps because the events there can be so fun. I have heard some other comments (both email and phone) very similar to the concerns expressed in the forum. I think its healthy to get this all out in the open. Fore-warned is fore-armed. We know Todd better now so our chances for a mutually agreeable relationship are higher than before. We probably will have to produce some "guidelines" about our behaviour to be part of the "deal". But if we "play nice" and he "stays calm", I think we can work this out.

I have had my own dealing with "Tom" in the Vette vs Viper Shootouts. The issue dealt with the first rainout; I paid, tech'ed, ran two practice runs, and then the skies opened up. I was the only returning Vette in the re-schedule and he tried not only to charge me again, but double the price. I stood my ground and he was vocal, but cooperative.
This is where a ran a 14.1/95 BEFORE the Headers and the B&M Shift Kit (zoom zoom zoom) at 95,000 miles. Early C4 Corvettes has a whopping 205HP and blistered the 1/4 mile with 15.5; I 've added about 125HP so far...
This is where I SMOKED Day Goree, who took a nap, and then ran me into the ground with a 12-second pass (sigh)
Face it, SAR now hosts a National IHRA Event and is a successful dragstrip.
SASCA places its membership first and tries to offer the best venue regardless of what may take, and I applaud them for it. We should take the 'high road,' and be appreciative to our BOD, and give SAR the benefit of the doubt.
Adam, if you bring a camera, and a car we can jump the red vette with (the MSD ignition drains the electrical system and I didn't upgrade in the offseason) maybe we can talk about a co-drive - but I might ask you to think about being the official photgrapher of the 2/07 rally, too.

Hmmm....pardon the response from last night. Having a nagging wife in one ears, results in a misunderstood post in the other ear. I really am not trying to jump on anyone, really, but yes there are two sides to each story. I have to be a moderator in this sense considering Ive raced with Todd, and raced with SASCA, and have had no problems with either. This time though, we are going to follow some guidelines (as Ed mentions) to keep Todd, and SASCA in check, which in turn should settle everything. The reason the lot is chunking in the manner it does is because of the lousy dirt below it, unfortunately no one (even the farmers in the area complain of it) can stops how it effects the asphalt and concrete (just some FYI for you there). Other than that, I have nothing personal against some complaints, last night was just a really bad night (sorry bout that)...Now, Im ready to race, if we dont find some more spots you guys are going to need to learn dirt racing, because there plenty of that, where there isnt concrete. BYE!
