May 17, 2009: SASCA or SPOKES?

Anyone notice that both clubs have the same dates for May?  Any chance one of them can change their dates so we can have two events in May on two different dates?  I know it's difficult to reserve the dates because you're basically at the mercy of AT&T & SMA.  It may be worth it to at least check to find out if other dates are available.

This was a tough choice but this time of year is exceptionally hard to plan autocross around.  I made the schedule (for Spokes) and this was the only date that conflicted with SASCA, there just was no other way around it.

This weekend is obviously out since it's already Thursday, plus it would've left a very long gap in our schedule.
Next weekend is Mother's Day, Spokes had an event on Mother's Day last year so this one is for Mom.
The next weekend is the 17th, both scheduled events.
The following weekend is Memorial Day Weekend.

Tough month for autocross but good for BBQ!

Thanks, Rick.  I'm registered for both so it'll be a last minute decision.  Since I haven't driven at SMA yet, that's probably where I'll end up on the 17th.  I'm crossing my fingers nothing will come up at the last minute like the last couple of months.

We actually made a decision to move our May event to June 7th to not conflict with Spokes, and then moved our June 21st event to the 28th so as to not conflict with the divisional, but Spokes has also rearranged their schedule for June, so we have a double conflict that month.  As Rick said, tough time to plan.  There's going to have to be a discussion at our meeting next week to figure out if we want to keep the modified schedule or try for something different.  That's why we hadn't publicly posted up anything about this as of yet.  Stay tuned.

As of this particular moment, that is correct... However, this will need to be discussed/confirmed at the meeting on Wednesday evening next week.

Even if we don't have an event going on May 17th, Spokes is just up the road at the San Marcos airport that same day.  It only takes me 40-45 minutes to get to their site from my house, and that's while towing my car.

I doubt I'm going to compete if it is pushed back to the 24th.  We have our H2R track day on the 23rd.

The remaining SASCA events at AT&T are now: June 7th, June 28th, July 19th, and August 23rd.

It looks like May 17th will be the last SPOKES event at San Marcos Airport. Too bad. Such a great venue.

I plan on heading out to the Spokes event for 17 May.
