If you are posting a new event in this "Event" section, you'll also want to link your event to the "Forum Calendar". This way if anybody clicks the "Calendar" menu near the top, they'll see your event linked to that day. It's really quite easy. I'll try to outline the steps.
- Create and submit your new Event into this section. Don't forget to include the date in the title.
- Go back in and view your new Event post. If you look at the bottom of the page, you should see an item that reads "Link to Calendar". Click on that link.
- You'll now see a page allowing you to Modify your event post. At the top, you should see a place to enter the "Event Title" and date fields to select the date.
- You then should duplicate your post subject in the "Event Title", but leave off the date part. You are also limited to only 30 characters in the "Event Title", so you might need to shorten it a little.
- Now, enter the date of your event with the date pulldown fields
- Now, just click the "Save" button at the bottom
What you should see now, is your even inside the Calendar view. If you look at your event post, you should now also see a section at the top that reads "Linked Event". This shows that your Event post is now linked to the Calendar. If you wish to modify the Calendar Linked Event, click the red "
*" next to the "Linked Event"
A 2nd way to create a new event, is to go directly to the "Calendar" view, and use the "Post Event" link at the bottom. This will automatically link your event to the calendar, and post your event in the "Events" forum.
