Coastal Bend Region PCA DE at Harris Hill Road - March 14, 2009

Space is Limited...Register today on www.clubregistration.net

If you have been seeking an opportunity for high-speed performance driving and you're not planning on going to the Club Race in March -- then you shouldn't miss the chance to drive at Harris Hill Road, a private track in San Marcos, Texas, on March 14, 2009.  See www.harrishillroad.com.

This Coastal Bend Region PCA event is only open to drivers who have demonstrated skills in previous Porsche Club HPDE (high-performance driver’s education) events or formal motorsports racing training.  In car instruction will be available upon request.

If you have solo-driving experience with the Coastal Bend Region or another Porsche Club region, you can sign up for the March 14 event by registering with www.clubregistration.net, signing up for the Coastal Bend Region DE event, and paying via PayPal.  The event registrar will acknowledge and verify your driving experience and your eligibility for the San Marcos event.

Participants should be solo drivers who are comfortable driving at the upper performance limits of their cars while learning the new track.  Because of the high-speed nature of Porsche Club events, cars must pass a rigorous inspection prior to running – the Coastal Bend Region requires an inspection (which includes possessing an approved Snell-rated helmet) by a qualified mechanic prior to the event.

Now read this:  Noise limits are strictly enforced - 95 db at 30 ft. with HHR's meter. No wiggle room - these guys know all the tricks so don't try to cheat. You won't run if your car is too loud.  Really!

Tech Forms are available on www.clubregistration.net

For general information contact Randy Bissell, at cbrpca@swbell.net or contact Rene Molina, Event Coordinator, at rmj951@swbell.net if you're wondering if you're a candidate for the March Solo Event.

If I had a dollar for every time someone at an autocross has said to me, "I really want to run my car at Harris Hill", well, I'd at least have the entry fee for the next couple of SASCA events covered. Smiley

Boys and girls, there's no time like the present...Harris Hill is a neat facility that gets better every time we run there.  It has a nice mixture of corners, along with a couple of straights, that make it as amenable to Miatas as it is to Porsches or Corvettes.  Don't be shy--last time out with the Porsche Club we had a Honda CRX and a 24 Hours of LeMons Acura, and those guys were having as much fun as the guy who showed up in a Nissan GT-R.  The CBR Porsche Club are good people who are easygoing and great to run with.  The lapping sessions are followed at day's end by a 3-lap time trial.  The TT is optional, but if you're interested in seeing how you and your car stack up with the others, it's hard to argue with actual lap times.

March is a great time for a track day, too.  Last year the CBR PCA ran an event in June, and it was fry-an-egg-on-the-pavement hot.  March should be warm enough to get some heat in the tires but not unpleasantly so.

Best of all, it's on a Saturday, so you can run H2R and still make it to the following day's SASCA event if you choose--sign up before it's too late!

There are still a few spots open for this...if you're on the fence about it, just do it!  You'll get as much seat time in one day as in an entire season of autocross, and you'll be on track with other cars while you do it.  There are several run groups sorted based on experience, so there's a class for everyone.

IMPORTANT:   The Porsche Club guys have made a decision to move this event to 3/28, apparently due to the crappy weather forecast for this weekend.  Looking out my window right now it appears they made a wise choice.
