Feb 12, 2006 SASCA & SPOKES Autox - SASCA Event #2

SASCA and SPOKES will be co-hosting this event.  It is a points event for both clubs.

To get to Verizon , Take IH 35 to 1604 west, exit Lookout Road. Take Lookout Road northbound, and Verizon will be on the left. For more detailed directions, visit the Verizon website at http://www.vwatx.com

Setup starts at 7:00am
Registration opens at 8:00am
Late registration begins at 9:00am (additional $5)
Registration closes at 9:30
Novice Walkthrough at 9:40am
Driver's meeting at 10:00am
First Car out at 10:30am

Pre-registration will be via www.dlbracing.com

Wow, this past Sunday was my first time driving and I'm hooked.  I'm really looking forward to the Feb. event!

I think I like where you're going with this.  I see a good mixture of short straight sections with some challanging transitions.  I think I see where the obvious line is not necessarily the fastest line in one or two places.  I like that![Cheesy]

I REALLY don't think we should make it a habit of running courses like that.  The fact of the matter is that those folks who are unfortunate to run in the 1st run group end up throwing away their first or second run because the surface is so slick.  By the time the course just STARTS to get grippy for them, their chances of getting a good run for one direction are shot.  If we had a better lot surface to run on (one that was grippier from the beginning and didn't have as much pea-gravel), then I'd say we should do that, but our lot makes for a VERY frustrating day when we reverse it.

Just my $.02.  I'm not on the BoD any more, but I was very unhappy with the last event we reversed and it wasn't because of the course design itself.  It just made for a frustrating day; not fun at all since I was one of the first cars on course in the first run group.

I still drive so crappy that I couldn't tell the difference.  Except my afternoon times were slower that day.  Maybe this was part of it.
