Excellent course, one mighty cold morning (27F when I pulled in at 6:40am!), but a terrific day in all, despite me breaking my car Sad  Damned old cars...

It was a great day of racing with huge numbers far more than any one expected i am sure. I my self was quite shocked when i got there at 7;45 and saw all of those cars..  I think i can speak for every one involved in saying we are going to work hard on back up plans for these type of days to cover such a large turn out.... This was a great event with the combined clubs and was a huge amount of fun i hope we can all do it again next month.. [:-party]

Ditto on the positive comments here.  148+ drivers showed up.  Probably a SASCA record.

I wanted to tell everyone that I am sorry that I ran over the timing light.  This was the first time I had auto-x'd the car since the turbo install.  It was a little squirellier then ususal.

Other then that I had a great time and it was good to meet everyone.

Great runs for me as well. Best I did was a very low 55 with stock tires and that was with my G35 running out of GAS!  That is why it was studdering and I DNF one of the last runs because it was dieing.  LOL And it died at the stop sign.  I can't believe it!  My fuel light just turned on too.

Next time I will need more gas in the tank! Smiley

Hey man. Don't let it bother you so much. It happens!  Everyone has had the chance to either knock out the wires or the light at some time in SASCA history as well.

Thanks for letting Spokes come down and play. I also appreciate
that you got rid of the rain...now can you work on the cold?  Smiley

And while we are at it, can you make a rule that says Art & Phil
have to take a 200 lb. passenger on all their runs? I starting to
get tired of losing to them... Sad

Thanks to everyone who helped make this event go off.  Richard's course was fantastic.  I heard lots of compliments all day long -- welll done Rich.  Thanks to the SPOKES membership for your support.  We enjoyed having you down yesterday.

Gonzaba Autoplex graciously donated two certificates for car washes.  Those two certs were designated for TTOD and the Novice winner.  So, congratulations to Richard Watson for a smoking 46 second run and to John Burgess Jr. for taking the Novice class win.

There were 146 drivers with times yesterday.  This was a considerably higher number than expected and created some challenges.  I want to apologize for the delays and tell you what we learned from the experience.

1. The need for pre-registration is clear.  Registration for all our events is done on dlbracing.com . Pre-registration saves tons of time before the event.  Yesterday, there were around 70 entrants that had to be manually entered into the computer.  That takes lots of time and effort.
2. With such a large crowd we should do three heats, not six.
3. There was an issue with the radios at the start of the event.  We need to make sure they're all on the same frequency before they go out to the corner worker stations.
4. The two timing delays were pretty minor and are pretty hard to prevent.  The first was caused by a slide through the finish.  It happens.  We recovered quickly.  The second was caused by the setting sun interfering with the laser beam.  Again, we recovered fairly quickly.

Thanks for your patience yesterday and your support of the club.

Considering what was likely a record turnout, you guys did great!  It's really cool to see so many new faces at SASCA events.  Whatever you're doing to bring 'em in, keep it up!

I'm thinking it's time to move to R-compounds.  I was really getting frustrated with my tires today.  I was sliding all over the place.

Even those on R-comps were sliding, there's not alot that can over come very cold temperature.  Alot of people, myself included, would recommend not switching to R-comps until you have a year or more driving experience.

Great event . THanks for letting SPOKES come play.
