SASCA's 1st '05 AutoX event

After much hard work of chasing down leads, running around town, and countless dead ends, Ive got us a new site. We couldnt ask for much better of a venue than this. We will be running a "test" event, as proving ground to the site. IF all goes well, we have a whole seasons worth of racing laid out for us. More details to come at the meeting. This event is open to everyone, and schedule applies as normal. Heres the information..

Event Date: 1/16/05
Place: Verizon Wirless Ampitheater

To get to Verizon Ampitheater, Take IH 35 to 1604 west, exit Lookout Road. Take Lookout Road northbound, and verizon will be on the left.

I have sealed the deal on 13 dates with the venue, holding one event a month. Our first event will be proof to Verizon that we can hold our own, if we get the approval, we get the dates. It is important that we put on the best of show, so we can seal the deal on this site for many years. The staff at Verizon is very pleased to rent out the lot, and is willing to add more dates with notice.

The lot at Verizon is HUGE, expect to grab some of 3rd through straight-a-ways. The lot compostion is good as well, but we must watch carefully to prevent damage (Verizon's main concern). We essentially have access to 6 lots, racing on one, and using the others to facilitate pits, spectators, and grid.....and the best part, its the same cost as the alamodome..

We will need a couple extra volunteers this first morning to help with setup, as we will be getting acustomed to the new lot. We will have access to several helpful "road" signs to help show you where to go. Please bear with us this time around, as we work out how things will run.

Lets all work together to make this year exciting for SASCA with our new venue. Expect lots of fun with long runs and higher speeds. I look forward to seeing ya'll there...

This is a great development for SASCA.  We need to make sure everything goes smoothly for this first event.  The Verizon management is great, but we have to demonstrate that we can pull these events off without causing them any problems whatsoever.

Below is a link to our preliminary course template.  The course design is not there, but it can serve to give you an idea about the size of the lot. Also, some of our more eager course designers (Mike, Kevin, etc.) might want to start playing around with course design ideas.  Our new President (Mike Roberts) will be designing our first course.

lol ya, this is sooooo close to me since i live in Garden Ridge.  Should be a great site and ill be sure to try and get a lot of ppl out there to support the event.  

Sorry i havent been at the past few events, but i have just been busy working on my car and didnt feel it was ready for any of them.   Still, yes i am alive, and i should be at this event with a new paint job, plenty of body work, and finally my stock steelies with azenis on them :-)

If (No! When! ... When! When! When!) Verizon becomes our regular venue we can move the trailer back to Feye's Boat and Camper storage. We used them when we ran at Retama.  Its only about 1/4 of a mile down Lookout road from the Verizon center. So close that maybe we could have somebody with a trailered car to come early, drop the car then get the trailer.  Then another (perhaps different) truck could be used to return the trailer at the end of the day.

That reminds me. Need to make sure we have paid for January. Be a shame to have somebody go to get the trailer and find a boot on it.
